Khirkee Collective is a co-working space specifically designed for performers. It’s located in South Delhi. This space nurtures a unique blend of creativity and collaboration. Think choreographers, theatre makers, dancers, and musicians. Even filmmakers and light designers find a home here. The Khirkee Collective isn’t just about providing a space. It’s about fostering a community. It’s a place where artists can rehearse, create, and connect. They offer classes and workshops. They even host intimate performances. Beyond the studios, there’s a welcoming area. Artists gather, relax, and share ideas. There’s also a library filled with resources on contemporary dance, theatre, and performance. Now, here’s a unique aspect of Khirkee Collective. It’s not run by a company or a strict collective. It’s self-managed by the artists themselves. About 40 practitioners share the space. They co-rent and maintain it. This creates a democratic and inclusive environment. They call themselves “Khuli Khirkee”, which translates to “open window”. They are open to new possibilities and new members. The Khirkee Collective is more than just studios and a library. It’s a community built on shared values. It’s a testament to the power of shared dreams and collaboration. They opened Khirkee Collective in September 2020. This was right after the first lockdown. It became a haven for artists.
