Established in its current form in 2017, Khalifa University Old Campus whispers tales of transformation. The Khalifa University Old Campus is more than just bricks and mortar. It’s a testament to the UAE’s vision for a knowledge-based economy. This vision began to materialize in 1989 with the founding of the Etisalat College of Engineering in Sharjah. This institution, focused on nurturing engineering talent, became a cornerstone for Khalifa University’s future. The journey continued with the establishment of the Petroleum Institute in 2000, backed by industry giants like ADNOC. In 2007, two significant developments occurred. First, the Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research (KUSTAR) was founded. Second, KUSTAR acquired the Etisalat University College, consolidating the foundation of engineering education. Also in 2007, the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology was established. This graduate-level institution focused on advanced energy and sustainable technologies. These three distinct institutions, each with a unique focus, eventually converged in 2017 under a decree by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. This merger birthed Khalifa University of Science and Technology, creating a comprehensive research-intensive university. The Khalifa University Old Campus, formerly the site of KUSTAR and EUC, now stands as a symbol of this rich history. Khalifa University boasts two campuses in Abu Dhabi. The Old Campus, once the main campus, now plays a significant role alongside the newer main campus. The Old Campus houses the ADNOC Research and Innovation Center. This center boasts 39 labs dedicated to reservoir rock and fluid characterization. The campus offers student residences, fitness facilities, dining, libraries, and a learning center. It’s a hub of academic life, contributing to the vibrant research and learning environment of Khalifa University.
