Keresteciler Sitesi Camii

Across the bustling cityscape, the Keresteciler Sitesi Camii stands as a testament to Ottoman architectural grandeur. The Keresteciler Sitesi Camii is a modern mosque, built with a blend of traditional and contemporary design. Its main dome rests gracefully upon eight pillars. Four intersecting domes support the central dome, creating a visually stunning effect. These are further supported by eight smaller domes, adding to the mosque’s intricate design. The main dome measures an impressive 26.4 meters in diameter and reaches a height of 36.5 meters. The stained-glass windows within these domes cast a kaleidoscope of colors, both inside and outside. The son cemaat area, a space for latecomers to pray, is covered by 16 domes and features a covered terrace. A central courtyard, paved with Kayseri stone, boasts a beautiful octagonal fountain, surrounded by connecting porticos. Three towering minarets, each reaching 67.5 meters and adorned with three şerefiyes (balconies), punctuate the skyline. The şerefiyes feature a unique mukarnas (stalactite) design. The interior of Keresteciler Sitesi Camii is equally impressive. The ornamentation draws inspiration from the famed Selimiye Mosque in Edirne. The mihrab (prayer niche), minber (pulpit), vaiz kürsüsü (lectern), and müezzin mahfili (muezzin’s platform) showcase exquisite ahşap kündekari (Ottoman woodcarving). Three entrances welcome worshippers: a central taç kapı (stone gate) flanked by two side entrances. The mosque boasts a modern underfloor heating system. The dome and roof are clad in high-quality aluminum. The exterior features two-toned Kayseri stone, chosen for both its aesthetic appeal and insulating properties. Custom-made Kütahya tiles adorn the interior. A grand central chandelier, measuring 5.5 meters in diameter and height, illuminates the prayer hall. Eight smaller chandeliers complement the central one. The Keresteciler Sitesi Camii can accommodate a remarkable 6,500 worshippers. The harim (main prayer hall) holds 4,500, the mahfil (upper level) holds 1,000, and the son cemaat and inner courtyard each hold another 1,000. The mosque itself occupies 4,000 square meters of a 23-dönüm (approximately 19,000 square meters) plot. This area also includes ample parking space.
