Standing before Keperra Baptist Church, you might be forgiven for thinking it’s just another church. But let me tell you, this unassuming building has a rich history, a story of faith and community that spans decades. Back in 1953, it all began in the home of Mr and Mrs Davis, with a humble Sunday school. This little gathering eventually grew into a congregation, and in 1958, it was formally established under the name Grovely Baptist Church. They met in a building on Rolleston Street, a space that was a far cry from the modern structure standing here today. For years, the church was served by student-pastors under the guidance of Home Mission, a testament to the church’s commitment to nurturing future leaders. In 1964, the church moved to Gilston Street, right beside the Keperra shopping center, and adopted the name we know it by today – Keperra Baptist Church. They found their current spot at 980 Samford Road in 1978, a location that has served as the church’s haven for over 40 years. Keperra Baptist Church has become more than a place of worship; it’s a hub for the community, a space where people can connect, learn, and grow in their faith. It’s a legacy built on the foundation of dedication and a steadfast commitment to serve, not just within its walls but in homes, workplaces, and across the globe. And as you stand here, feeling the spirit of this place, remember that the story of Keperra Baptist Church, a story of growth and compassion, continues to unfold.
