Kengzi Sub-district sits in Pingshan District. In 2010, the recorded population was 94801. The area spans 24.07 square kilometers. The district itself became official in 2016. Before that, Pingshan was part of Longgang District.
Our journey through Kengzi Sub-district begins at Kengzi Station. This station is on Line 14 of the Shenzhen Metro. It opened on October 28, 2022. Think of it as a modern gateway. It connects you to the heart of Kengzi.
The area around Kengzi Station buzzes with activity. Guangzu Middle School is nearby. Also close are Kengzi Central Primary School and Pingshan District Maternal and Child Hospital. You will also find Pingle Bone Trauma Hospital. These places highlight the community’s focus on education and healthcare.
Did you know that Kengzi Station almost didn’t have its name? In 2018, the Shenzhen Metro Group released a report. It covered the Line 14 project. Then in April 2022, the city approved the station name. It would remain Kengzi Station.
The station itself is quite large. It covers 17312 square meters. Construction crews topped out the main structure in August 2020. This made it the fourth station on Line 14 to reach this milestone.
Navigating Kengzi Station is easy. It has four exits. Exits A and C have elevators. Exit C also offers public restrooms. The station runs east-west along Pingshan Avenue.
Kengzi Sub-district is also near BYD. This electric car and bus manufacturer has its headquarters in Pingshan. Another company, Shenzhen Changhong Technology Co., Ltd., also calls Pingshan home.
Kengzi Sub-district offers a mix of old and new. As you leave Kengzi Station, consider the blend of modern transit and traditional community. This area reflects Shenzhen’s dynamic growth. It also holds onto its cultural identity.
