That’s how it all started. Later it shared space with local businesses a grocery store and a furniture store. The library even occupied the old Katy Fire Department building on 2nd Avenue. It offered only twelve hours of service per week. A far cry from its current extended hours.
Construction of the current Katy Library building on Franz Road began in 2002. The grand opening on April 27 2003 marked a significant milestone. This modern facility expanded services significantly. The Katy Library now offers a computer lab a Family Place Learning Center meeting rooms and study rooms. It also hosts citizenship classes ESL classes and proctoring for distance learning exams. This truly became a community hub.
