Imagine young girls in post-war Berlin. They yearned for education. What if I told you the Katholische Schule Salvator began as their beacon of hope?
Katholische Schule Salvator stands before you. It is more than brick and mortar. It is a testament to faith and forward-thinking.
In 1947, the Salvatorianerinnen founded Katholische Schule Salvator. These sisters sought to empower girls through education. They bravely started an Oberschule in a former sanatorium. This was in Waidmannslust.
The sisters’ vision extended beyond academics. They aimed to instill Christian values. They fostered a welcoming atmosphere. They encouraged students to embrace their talents. The Katholische Schule Salvator also taught resilience. It allowed students to learn from failures.
Katholische Schule Salvator expanded over time. A Realschule was added in 1953. A Grundschule followed in 1965. Boys were then admitted. This cemented Katholische Schule Salvator as a school for all.
Today, Katholische Schule Salvator unites a Grundschule and an Oberschule. The Oberschule includes both a Gymnasium and an Integrierte Sekundarschule. About 700 students attend. Around 70 colleagues are teaching here. This structure allows continuous education. It enables transitions between school types.
The Gymnasium offers a unique musical focus. It enriches the school’s profile. Music remains a key part of Katholische Schule Salvator. Students can participate in various ensembles. These include a Big Band, a choir, and a string orchestra. They may even borrow instruments for a small fee.
Katholische Schule Salvator is more than just academics and music. The Katholische Schule Salvator provides religious education. Catholic religious instruction is compulsory until the 11th grade. It can even be chosen as an Abitur subject.
Located near the Tegeler Fließ, the school offers an idyllic learning environment. Though the Salvatorianerinnen no longer run the school, their spirit remains. The Erzbistum Berlin now oversees the Katholische Schule Salvator.
Consider the school’s motto: fostering talent in a welcoming environment. The Katholische Schule Salvator embraces a culture of life. It acknowledges both successes and setbacks. It lights the way to new paths. Katholische Schule Salvator’s history resonates within these walls. It reminds us of the power of faith. It shows the dedication to education.
