Kartaltepe Recreational Area offers many amenities. Clean bathrooms, a shop for barbecue supplies, and even a waterfall enhance your visit. You can rent bicycles or electric bikes to explore. Kids will love the play areas and the train-like carriage rides.

Do not expect dense woods. The “city forest” features pine trees that are about 3-5 meters tall. You can make a barbecue. Lighting a fire is permitted.

Kartaltepe Recreational Area boasts a dual-fountain pond covering 4500 square meters. A waterfall cascades from a height of 23 meters. Cross a 16-meter-long Black Sea-style wooden suspension bridge. There are 150 barbecue spots available. An artesian well provides potable underground water from a depth of 190 meters. The area can accommodate 2,222 people for picnics and barbecues. Kids will enjoy two playground areas. There is a grass football field. A 2230-meter-long bicycle track awaits cyclists. You can play beach volleyball on the available court. A 450-meter-long grass walking and running track encourages exercise. A mountain slide and go-kart track add to the excitement.

Kartaltepe Recreational Area also has places to enjoy tea and coffee, a market, and a small zoo. Near the entrance, you’ll find a mini zoo with dogs, chickens, and birds. A mosque and restrooms are conveniently located on the right. On the left, a beautiful flower area awaits. The upper section features the Victory Tower. There are also F-16 soldier mannequins. Other soldier figures and ox-drawn cannon replicas are present.

The picnic area is well-designed. Walking paths, trash cans, barbecues, and baby swings are all available. A buffet within the picnic area offers all you might need. From ice cream to kites, it has you covered.

The proximity to Ankara Forum Shopping Center is a major perk. It is just a 5-minute walk away. You can buy anything you forgot for your picnic. You can even do your picnic shopping there before heading to the recreational area.

Getting to Kartaltepe Recreational Area is easy. Public transportation is readily available. Buses on the Etlik line stop near the picnic area. No need for a car. Take an Etlik bus to Ankara Forum Shopping Center. Do your shopping. Then, walk across the street to the picnic area.

The entrance fee is affordable. It costs 10 TL per car. Pedestrians pay 2 TL per person. Admission is free for children aged 12 and under. A minibus costs 20 TL. A bus is 40 TL. The recreational area is open from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM.

To get to Kartaltepe Recreational Area by bus, take any Etlik bus. Most of them pass by there. Some bus numbers include 261, 263, 265, 267, 284, and 286. The ride takes about 1 hour from Kızılay and 45 minutes from Ulus.

If driving, head towards the Etlik district. Follow signs for the ring road or Yozgat Boulevard. Then, follow the Ankara Forum Shopping Center signs. Turning at the shopping center sign will lead you to the picnic area.
