Michalakis Karaolis was born in 1933. He hailed from Paleochori Pitsilia. He joined EOKA. EOKA fought for the liberation of Cyprus. In 1955, Karaolis and Andreas Panagiotou killed a police officer. The officer had infiltrated a rally. Karaolis was arrested. He was sentenced to death. He did not reveal his comrades during interrogation.
Andreas Dimitriou was born in 1934. He was from Agios Mamas Limassol. He stole weapons for EOKA. These weapons were given to EOKA groups. In 1955, he was accused of shooting an Intelligence Service agent. He was arrested and sentenced to death.
Both men were hanged on May 10, 1956. This took place in Nicosia’s Central Prisons. Their courage sparked global outrage. The day before their execution, protests erupted in Athens. Four people died in clashes with police. The protesters demanded the unification of Cyprus with Greece.

He designed many buildings. He is known for his functionalist style. He aimed to incorporate his buildings into the landscape. He often used traditional materials. These included stone and colors like ocher and white.
Konstantinidis also designed the interiors of his buildings. He used sculptures and photographs for decoration. His work reflects a deep understanding of Greek tradition. He died in 1993 in Athens.
