Completed in June 2018, the Kanzaki Ohashi Bridge stands as a testament to modern engineering. This steel truss giant stretches an impressive 171.1 meters across the Kanzaki-gawa River in Suita City, Osaka. The Kanzaki Ohashi Bridge isn’t just a bridge. It’s a vital artery for the Osaka Higashi Line, carrying trains and connecting communities. This bridge, built by Zenitaka Corporation for West Japan Railway Company, replaced an older structure. The previous Kanzaki Bridge, a reinforced concrete composite bridge built in 1953 and demolished in 1978, once spanned 320 meters with 18 spans. The old bridge, with its 5 longitudinal girders and 17 piers, served road traffic with two lanes across its 6-meter roadway. While the current Kanzaki Ohashi Bridge serves a different purpose and boasts a different design, it carries on the legacy of its predecessor, connecting people and places across the Kanzaki River.
