That same year, they embarked on an educational experiment, the “Tagesheim,” a full-day school model. Parents could choose a traditional schedule or keep their children at school until late afternoon, offering them lunch, electives, homework help, and even extra tutoring in core subjects. The entire building was finally completed in 1973, a concrete embodiment of their growing ambition. The gymnasium and the entire school building were inaugurated in 1968. The school was officially named after Justus von Liebig, the renowned German chemist, in 1982. The connection might seem odd at first, but Liebig, like this very school, was a pioneer. He revolutionized agriculture with his scientific approach. The Justus-von-Liebig-Gymnasium strives to do the same for education.
