It wasn’t until 1832, after much debate and a new law, that Puno established its own independent court. However, even with a reduced jurisdiction, the Justicia remained a cornerstone of Arequipa, echoing with the voices of those seeking a fair judgment, a resolution to disputes, and in many cases, the hope for a brighter future. Even today, the weight of countless stories, both big and small, hangs heavy in the air, a solemn reminder of the power and responsibility held within those historic walls.
