“A donut-shaped building transformed.” These words sparked the beginning of what we now know as Jun Hall. Originally, Jun Hall was a typical two-story sales building. It sat on Beijing’s outskirts near the Miyun Reservoir. The area featured undulating mountains and meandering rivers. Neri&Hu Design and Research were tasked with its transformation.
Their goal was to convert this ordinary structure into an iconic clubhouse and sales center. Neri&Hu embraced the existing courtyard design. They crafted two interlocked journeys. One journey catered to clubhouse members. The other was for sales center guests. Every programmed space was designed to be close to nature. The layering of the main courtyard and smaller gardens allowed the architecture to blend with the natural surroundings. Jun Hall quietly emerges from the water. It stands as a brick mass. The building features carved-out spaces. Gardens interlock with these spaces blurring the lines between indoors and outdoors.
Warm-toned wood pattern aluminum panels form a veil on the facade. This detail softens the heavy brick facade. Moments of the screen connect with interior spaces. This creates a facade that feels spontaneous on every side. Traditional gold brick tiles form the foundation. They extend from the exterior into the interior spaces. These bricks create in-between spaces.
Inside Jun Hall, brick and wood panels serve as the primary backdrop. A sculpted ceiling is a common theme. Each space comes alive with geometric cuts. These cuts interact with the sky and daylight. The light reflects off the Venetian plaster’s rich texture creating an ever-changing experience. Customized furniture adds to the luxury. Refined brass metal details catch the eye. Natural stone accents bring an organic feel. Soft fabrics create comfort and delicate lighting elements compose a sense of understated luxury in Jun Hall.
Jun Hall offers luxurious amenities. It includes a multi-purpose hall that can host 100 people. There is also a spacious business lounge and bar. A unique library and children’s reading room offer quiet retreats. Private function rooms and a family media room cater to special events. The red-wine and cigar lounge bar and rooftop deck offer relaxation.
The cultural center also functions as a sales center. A double-height reception area welcomes potential buyers. They embark on a journey through a media room and a winter garden. Upstairs, they cross a bridge over the courtyard. This leads to a sales presentation lounge complete with VIP rooms, a bar, and a children’s play room.
The art gallery stands out as one of Jun Hall’s most prominent spaces. It features hanging moveable walls that allow for flexible displays. The sculpted ceiling offers a visual connection to the upper level. Large glass windows extend the space into the courtyard. A private dining room on the second floor includes a bar and show kitchen. Members can rent this space for special events. The red-wine and cigar lounge bar and rooftop deck on the third floor provide stunning views. They showcase the surrounding mountainous landscape to the west. Jun Hall stands as a testament to blending architecture and nature.
