She was the wife of John Judge. He was a partner in Park City’s Silver King Mining Co. The Miner’s Home was a hospital for Catholic coal miners. They suffered from black lung disease. As the need for the hospital declined, Mary Judge wanted to reopen it as a school.
Originally named Cathedral School, it became Judge Memorial School in 1929. The school moved to a new building in 1960. The old building became an elementary school. Judge Memorial was co-educational until 1964. It briefly became an all-boys school until 1970. That same year, the school officially became Judge Memorial Catholic High School.
