“Faithfulness, perseverance, and a love for the people of the South Bay.” That’s what defines Journey South Bay Church. Journey South Bay Church has a unique story. It is born from two distinct churches. These churches came from two different denominations. They united to form one new congregation.
One “parent” is the Church of the Brethren. The other is the Evangelical Covenant Church. In September 2008, Journey Covenant Church met in schools. They set up and tore down their equipment each week. South Bay Community of the Brethren met at 2761 W 190th St in Redondo Beach. They decided to rent their facility to Journey Covenant Church.
Quickly, the pastors became friends. They decided to start having services together. On April 4th, 2012, the churches signed a partnership agreement. They borrowed from each name. They officially became Journey South Bay Church.
Journey South Bay Church honors its past. It taps into the values its “parents” passed on. At the same time, it looks forward. It strives to become everything God wants for it.
Journey South Bay Church is known for its welcoming atmosphere. It has a casual feel. The church offers warm hospitality. They host an annual family summer camp. This camp is for families with children affected by autism. Journey South Bay serves weekly dinners to the homeless. They volunteer with foster youth. Each winter, they take a missions trip to Baja, Mexico. There, they construct houses for the needy.
Journey South Bay offers worship services. Services are held on Sundays at 9:00 AM and 10:45 AM. Kid’s ministry is available at both services.
The church believes in one God. He exists eternally in three persons. These are the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. They are equal in every divine perfection. They execute distinct but harmonious work. This work includes creation, sustaining the world, and redemption.
Journey South Bay Church believes that the Bible is inspired by God. It is without error in the original manuscripts. The Bible is the supreme authority. It guides all matters of faith and conduct.
