Wondering where San Antonio students excel? That’s Johnson High School home of the Jaguars.
Claudia Taylor “Lady Bird” Johnson High School opened its doors August 28 2008. It eased crowding in the North East Independent School District. The school is named after Lady Bird Johnson. She was the U.S. First Lady.
Johnson High School sits atop one of Bexar County’s highest hills. It offers stunning views of San Antonio. Bluebonnets and wildflowers surround the campus. This started during the school’s first year.
The school’s song comes from Lady Bird’s favorite hymn “Jerusalem”. The school colors are Columbia blue navy and silver. Johnson High School’s motto is “Not to equal but to excel”.
Johnson High School serves several neighborhoods. These include Stone Oak Encino Park and Bulverde Creek. It also serves Cibolo Canyon and Fox Grove. A part of Timberwood Park is within its boundaries too.
The student body at Johnson High School is diverse. In 2022-2023 the school had 3202 students. The student-to-teacher ratio was about 17.45 to 1.
Johnson High School is known for its excellent band program. The marching band is a consistent Bands of America finalist. They were the 2020 UIL 6A State Marching Band Champions. The band even performed in the 2014 Tournament of Roses Parade.
Many talented students have walked the halls of Johnson High School. Pop singer Austin Mahone graduated in 2014.
Johnson High School received an “A” rating from the Texas Education Agency in 2021-2022. The Johnson High School continues to be a place where students thrive. It is a place where they prepare for a bright future.
