What secrets lie hidden beneath the earth’s surface? We’re here at the entrance of Jinhua Cave, also known as Shuanglong Cave, or Double Dragon Cave. Let’s explore its mysteries. Jinhua Cave is located about 15 kilometers from Jinhua City, nestled in the southern slope of a mountain. This isn’t just one cave, but a system of three: Jinhua Cave at the bottom, the Ice Pot Cave in the middle, and Chao Zhen Cave high above. Jinhua Cave itself is divided into two sections, the outer and inner caves. The outer cave is enormous, a vast chamber over 66 meters high and 33 meters wide. Imagine a thousand people gathered here, sheltered from the summer heat. Now, picture this: a massive rock separates the outer and inner caves, concealing a crystal-clear spring. The only way through is by boat, lying flat as your guide navigates the narrow passage. It’s a tight squeeze, the rock almost grazing your nose. Then, suddenly, you emerge into the inner cave, a breathtaking space of about 2,000 square meters. Two magnificent stalactites, one blue and one yellow, descend from the cave ceiling, resembling two dragon heads guarding their domain. This is the origin of the name “Double Dragon Cave.” These stalactites, along with numerous other formations, create a mesmerizing display. From Jinhua Cave, stone steps lead you upwards to the Ice Pot Cave. Its entrance opens skyward, a 40-meter deep chasm. The air grows cold as you descend, the sound of a waterfall echoing from below. Finally, there’s Chao Zhen Cave, facing a deep gully with its back to the peak. From its mouth, the surrounding peaks look like meditating monks, giving the cave its name, which means “Facing Truth.” Inside, you’ll find a stalagmite resembling Guanyin, the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy, and a skylight above, illuminating the chamber like a half-moon.
