Think of Chengdu. It’s the capital of Sichuan province. Now think of Jingyang District. It is a vibrant part of Deyang City. Are you ready to explore?

Jingyang District is the main urban area of Deyang City. It holds immense importance. It is the political economic and cultural center.

Let’s journey back in time. Jingyang District’s history is rich. It evolved from Deyang county. It also came from Shizhong District of Deyang City. In the Qin Dynasty, this area was under Shu Prefecture. Fast forward to the Western Han Dynasty. Emperor Gaodi divided Guanghan. This division created Ba and Shu counties. An ancient Mianzhu County existed in Jingyang District then. It was located in Huangxu town.

The name Deyang emerged during the Eastern Han Dynasty. Deyang county was divided. It became Zitong county. This county was located in Xiaoxiba Jiangyou County. Later, it moved to longfengchang in Suining. The name Deyang took root. It has remained unchanged since the Tang Dynasty.

Imagine the administrative changes over centuries. In 1659, Luojiang county merged into Deyang county. By 1983, Deyang City was established. In 1984, Deyang county was abolished. Shizhong District was established. Finally, in 1996, Shizhong District split. This split created Jingyang District and Luojiang county.

As of 2016, Jingyang District covered 648 square kilometers. It had a population of 748000. The district boasts a long history. Xiaoquan ancient town is located here. The Deyang Confucian temple is also in Jingyang District. In 2019, it earned recognition. It became a county-level advanced unit. This was for Chinese medicine.

The terrain of Jingyang District varies. It’s high in the northwest. It’s low in the southeast. The landform includes plains and hills. The west features the Mianyuan River. The east has the Longquan Mountain.

Three rivers flow through Jingyang. They are the Mianyuan River, Shiting River and Kaijiang River. The climate here is subtropical humid. Expect distinct seasons. Summers are mild. Winters are not severe.

Jingyang District is divided into several subdistricts and towns. Jingyang Subdistrict is one. Jingdong Subdistrict is another. Huangxu Town is a notable town. Xiaoquan Town is also important.

Did you know Jingyang District experienced administrative adjustments? In 2013, changes occurred. Donghu Township saw adjustments. Several villages were placed under Chengbei subdistrict office. In 2019, further changes happened. Donghu Township was abolished. Tianyuan Street was established.

Today Jingyang District continues to evolve. It is a key part of Deyang City. Its history shapes its present. Its future looks promising. Remember Jingyang District’s story. It is a story of resilience change and growth. A place of ancient roots and modern aspirations.
