“Is this where the river used to flow?” a child’s voice echoed near the Jhulelal Mandir. Her question wasn’t entirely out of place. Jhulelal, the revered deity of the Sindhi community, is deeply connected to the Indus River. The Jhulelal Mandir in Agra, however, stands on solid ground in Bodla. More specifically, you’ll find this vibrant temple in Mannu Vihar, 2nd Phase, just off Maruti Estate Road. This isn’t the only Jhulelal Mandir in Agra though. Another one is nestled in Nai Ki Mandi, near Kappa Mandir. But we’re here, at the Bodla temple. Imagine the vibrant celebration of Jhulelal Jayanti here. The Sindhi community gathers, their devotion palpable, as they honor their patron deity. Their celebrations are a testament to the community’s enduring faith. They carried their traditions and faith across borders, eventually establishing roots in places like Agra. Jhulelal became a beacon of hope, a symbol of their identity in a new land.
