The Jesus Gemeinde began as a vision. It was a vision of a close-knit group of believers. They desired to practice their Christianity seriously. Its origins lie in members from various congregations. These included Free Evangelical Churches, Baptists, and the Brethren movement.
As early as 2000, a private house circle existed. Most of the future Christusgemeinde members regularly attended. This house circle nurtured a desire among its members. They wanted to establish their independent congregation. This aspiration led to the founding of the association. It also initiated public Sunday services.
The Christusgemeinde identifies as an Evangelical Free Church. This means it’s not part of any state church. It isn’t tied to a specific denomination like the Catholic Church. It operates independently. It is not a member of any alliance or federation of free churches. The Jesus Gemeinde manages itself. It funds its activities through donations and member contributions. Its articles of association define membership and board regulations. It is a registered association. The Frankfurt District Court has recognized it. The tax office has granted it non-profit status.
The Bible is the sole basis. It guides faith, teaching, and community life. Membership is open to anyone. They must profess to have received forgiveness through Jesus Christ. They must commit to living according to their faith in Him. Jesus Christ is the head and Lord of the church. He is the Son of God and creator of the world. All church members contribute their gifts. These gifts are inspired by the Holy Spirit. Thus, all members actively participate in church life. The universal priesthood of all believers eliminates any distinction. It removes the divide between clergy and laity.
The Jesus Gemeinde proclaims the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It follows the Bible. This proclamation happens through the Lord’s Supper. Jesus Christ Himself instituted this before His death. According to the Bible, only those should participate. They must live in fellowship and peace with Jesus Christ.
Baptism occurs in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This is for anyone. They must choose baptism based on their beliefs. Infant baptism is not practiced. Faith-based content is taught in children’s services. This happens through biblical stories.

The Jesus Gemeinde holds a faith. It is common to all believers. Their belief is based on the Bible. They see it as the complete divine revelation. God inspired it word by word through the Holy Spirit. They believe in the Triune God. God is uniquely one. Yet, He is a Trinity: Father, Son, and Spirit. Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is God Himself. He was incarnated as a man named Jesus Christ. Christ died on the cross. He died for our sins. He shed His blood for our redemption. Christ resurrected from the dead on the third day. He ascended to God’s right hand. There, He is Lord of all.
Anyone who repents and believes is regenerated. They are born again. They become a living member of Christ’s Body. Christ is coming again. He will receive His believers.
