Have you ever imagined a mosque with 29 golden domes? This is no ordinary mosque. The Jame’Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque, or Kiarong Mosque as it’s known by locals, is the largest mosque in Brunei. It was built in 1992 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah’s reign. The mosque’s extravagant design is an incredible sight, with its 29 golden domes, representing the Sultan as the 29th ruler of Brunei. It’s a perfect example of Islamic architecture and a source of great pride for the Bruneian people. Standing in front of the mosque, its grandeur is simply breathtaking. You could spend hours soaking in its beauty and majesty. You may even be tempted to think that you’ve just walked into a movie set for Aladdin!
