The Jakob-Böhme-Denkmal itself has a story. Johannes Pfuhl designed the fountain. He was a sculptor from 1846 to 1914. The Lauchhammer iron foundry cast the artwork in 1898. It was unveiled on October 31, 1898. Originally, it stood near the city hall. This was close to the Stadtbrücke. The fountain had to be moved in 1972. It was moved to make way for border control facilities. It found a new home in the Park des Friedens. Sadly, it no longer functions as a fountain.
