Secretive haven. That’s Jade Spring Hill. Nestled west of the Summer Palace it holds a captivating history. For centuries Jade Spring Hill served imperial purposes. Its famed Jade Spring supplied water to the imperial palace. The Qianlong Emperor called it the greatest spring in the world.

Jade Spring Hill’s history extends beyond the Qing Dynasty. In 1680 during the reign of the Kangxi Emperor Chengxin Garden was built there. It was later renamed Jingming Garden. This garden is one of five imperial gardens in northwest Beijing. The hill itself is also home to the Xiangji Temple the Yufeng Pagoda the Jinxing Palace and the Furong Palace.
