Established in 1995, this center serves the religious and social needs of the Los Angeles community. The Islamic Center of Hawthorne’s story began with a vision. The vision was to serve the Muslim community and spread Islam’s message of mercy.

The center’s building on Hawthorne Way is fully owned by the Muslim community. It stands as a testament to their dedication and unity. The Islamic Center of Hawthorne is a non-profit organization. Al-Huda School is a vital part of the Islamic Center of Hawthorne. It started in 1998 with just 31 students. Today, the school serves pre-kindergarten through 8th grade. It has about 120 students. The school uses the center’s facilities.

Two facilities operate all activities, including the full-time school. Sunday school, Quran classes, and youth programs also take place here. The Islamic Center of Hawthorne’s mission is clear. The Board of Directors manages the center’s daily activities. The President of the Board is elected. Then they appoint six other board members. The General Body approves these members. The B.O.D. serves for a term of two years. Dr. Jawdat Dajani is the President of the Board of Directors. Other board members include Br. Malek Jesri. He serves on the Youth Committee. Br. Abdullah Ali is on the Dawah Committee. Sr. Hazar Baddour is involved with the Weekend and Quran School. She also serves on the Women Committee. Sr. Fatima Hindi is the Secretary. She also participates in the Youth Committee. Br. Khaled Awawdeh is the Treasurer.

The Board of Trustees oversees general policies and major decisions. It consists of seven members. Five are elected from the General Body. The President of the Board of Directors and the President of the Board of Education are also members. Br. Bader Akbik is the President of the Board of Trustees. Other members include Br. Yasser Patel, Br. Abdel Malek Taweil, and Br. Adnan Jammal. Dr. Sayed Sallam is the President of the Board of Education.

The Board of Education manages Al-Huda Islamic School. It has five members. Three are elected from the General Body. One is from the Board of Directors. One is elected by the parents of the school. Dr. Sayed Sallam also serves as the President of the Board of Education.
