In the fall of 2007, archaeologists were working on the outskirts of Torslunde Village. What they unearthed wasn’t a goalpost or buried treasure, but something far more intriguing. They found the grave of a wealthy prince from the Roman Iron Age, dating back to approximately 250 AD. This wasn’t just any burial. The prince was laid to rest surrounded by luxurious Roman artifacts, indicating his high status and connections to the wider Roman world. This discovery, now known as the “Prince of Ishøj,” provides a captivating glimpse into Denmark’s past. It’s a testament to the rich history and surprising stories that Ishøj Municipality holds.
