Her journey led her to Texas, where she met Samuel Maas, a businessman with a passion for the arts. They married in 1844 and moved to Galveston, a city on the brink of change.
Eight days after they arrived, Isabella was struck by a devastating Yellow Fever epidemic. This was a common occurrence in the South and led to a high number of deaths. Miraculously, Isabella survived. She went on to dedicate her life to bringing the beauty and richness of opera to her new Texan home. She became known as a pillar of the community, performing for charity events and conducting concerts for the German and French Benevolent Societies. She also played an active role in various cultural organizations.
