Founded in 2003 by the Congregation of the Canossian Sisters IPDC opened its doors with a mission to shape future generations. Its initial offerings were diploma courses in Office Management and Technical Computer and Informatics. These practical programs equipped graduates for immediate employment but also paved the path to higher education.
By 2009 IPDC had earned significant recognition. Following a rigorous accreditation process IPDC received a remarkable 92.88% approval rating. This was a testament to its high standards. The accreditation process involved an international team cooperating with Timor-Leste’s National Accreditation Bureau. The IPDC’s success story continued. It successfully graduated 120 students in its first two cycles.
The demand for computer expertise grew rapidly in Timor-Leste. Recognizing this IPDC responded. After a decade of operation IPDC upgraded its programs. The Technical Computers and Informatics department advanced to a Strata 1 level. This upgrade was a response to the challenges posed by the international accreditation team. It also reflected the evolving needs of the nation.
The IPDC’s website relaunched in 2019 to celebrate its 16th anniversary. The website itself represents IPDC’s ongoing commitment to progress. In 2019 staff gathered for a retreat focusing on the IPDC’s future goals and maintaining its mission. The staff reflected on their role as Canossian educators. They aimed to maintain the institution’s core values.
