What began with just twenty people? It’s the story of the International Central Gospel Church. Specifically, it is the story of how the International Central Gospel Church Calvary Temple came to be. The International Central Gospel Church began its journey on February 26 1984 in Accra Ghana.

From humble beginnings the International Central Gospel Church grew. Regular attendance rose to about 180 adults by April 1986. Early meetings took place in various locations. These included classrooms a private residence and even a cinema theatre.

In May 1986 the church found a home. It settled in a rented scout hall known as Baden Powell Memorial Hall. For ten years this hall served as their sanctuary. During this time membership soared to over 4000. The International Central Gospel Church also aggressively planted local assemblies. These assemblies were established in major towns and cities throughout Ghana.

The International Central Gospel Church established a ministerial institute in 1988. Its purpose was to train new leaders. This college has since become Central University a premier private university in Ghana. That same year the church launched Central Aid. It is an educational scholarship scheme for needy students in pre-tertiary education. It is now Ghana’s largest non-governmental scholarship program for such students.
