As fate would have it, most of them were scheduled to move back home in 1984. Instead of disbanding, they felt a strong calling to establish an international English-language church in Dusseldorf. This decision was solidified during their Thanksgiving celebration in 1984. They felt God’s guidance to create a spiritual haven for the growing international community in the city. With the help of the European Baptist Convention, the Dusseldorf Baptist Mission was born. Initially meeting at the American International School of Dusseldorf, the mission welcomed people from diverse backgrounds. In 1992, the mission blossomed into the independent International Baptist Church of Dusseldorf. It thrived, embracing its multicultural identity with members from over 30 nations. Today, the International Baptist Church of Dusseldorf stands as a testament to that Thanksgiving revelation.
