In 1964, a seed of technological advancement was planted in Phnom Penh. This seed was the Institute of Technology of Cambodia, or ITC, initially known as Institut Technique Supérieur de l’Amitié Khméro–Soviétique (ITSAKS). ITC’s story intertwines with the tides of Cambodian history. Born from a partnership with the Soviet Union, the Institute of Technology of Cambodia thrived from 1964 to 1975. This collaboration resumed from 1980 to 1991, a testament to the enduring spirit of knowledge exchange. The Institute of Technology of Cambodia then transitioned under French operation from 1993 to 2004, renamed Institut de Technologie du Cambodge. Since 2004, Cambodia has proudly steered the Institute of Technology of Cambodia under the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sport. The Institute of Technology of Cambodia stands as a beacon of progress, aiming to be Cambodia’s premier science and technology university. It envisions becoming a leading institution in the region, driven by excellence in science, technology, and engineering. The Institute of Technology of Cambodia has a clear mission: to nurture skilled graduates and spearhead applied research. This research fuels startups and technology transfer. By 2030, the Institute of Technology of Cambodia aims to have produced 17,200 graduates ready to meet market demands and 175 applied research projects driving innovation. To reach these ambitious goals, the Institute of Technology of Cambodia employs five key strategies. It refines its academic programs, aligning them with international standards and market needs. It invests in human capital and modernizes its management systems. The Institute of Technology of Cambodia also develops infrastructure and upgrades equipment, fostering a conducive learning environment. It also promotes applied research and invests in projects that bridge academia and industry. Finally, the Institute of Technology of Cambodia enhances its visibility, sharing its achievements with the world. The Institute of Technology of Cambodia recognizes the rapid pace of technological change. It strives to play a vital role in Cambodian society, always seeking improvement. ITC’s core goal is to provide students with top-tier education in engineering and technology, equipping them with the skills needed for a dynamic job market. This pursuit goes hand in hand with its dedication to academic and international scientific research. The Institute of Technology of Cambodia isn’t solely focused on academics. It actively contributes to sustainable development and reducing inequality. Its international outlook and inclusive admissions policy reflect this commitment. ITC’s journey wouldn’t be possible without the support of the Cambodian community. The dedication of its staff and students across generations is also invaluable. The Institute of Technology of Cambodia stands at a dynamic crossroads in Southeast Asia. Its many partners include French Cooperation, Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), and various international collaborations. These partnerships elevate its educational programs, facilitate new degrees, and foster collaborative research. The Institute of Technology of Cambodia also maintains strong ties with Cambodian companies and multinationals. This connection has led to robust continuing education programs and expanded laboratory services.
