Established in 1966 the Institut universitaire de technologie A in Lille boasts a rich history. Initially one of three independent IUTs it was a component of Lille 1 University. It focused on science technology and health. The IUT A resided on the Villeneuve-d’Ascq campus.
This particular IUT A played a crucial role in Lille’s educational landscape. It offered a highly professionalized curriculum. Students pursued BUT degrees and professional licenses. A selective master’s program was also available. The program focused on Quality Hygiene Safety and Environment or QHSE. This master’s program trained highly skilled professionals at the bac+5 level. In a poignant tribute to Samuel Paty a teacher tragically murdered in 2020 the IUT de Lille renamed an amphitheater at its Tourcoing site in September 2022.
