The building with the white walls and the tall, slender steeple that stands right before us is no ordinary church. It is the Indooroopilly United Church and it’s a place where history and community intertwine. Its origins can be traced back to 1916, and it was dedicated to the memory of those who fought in World War I. It was built in 1922 and replaced a building on the opposite side of the road. This majestic building is more than a place of worship, it’s a vibrant hub for the community. It provides an array of services, including English classes, furniture and welfare support for asylum seekers and refugees. This beautiful church is a beacon of hope and unity – a place where everyone is welcome to connect with their spirituality, find support and build a community. Its legacy is woven into the fabric of the Indooroopilly community as a symbol of faith, resilience and hope.
