The Igreja São Martinho de Cedofeita, also known as the Romanesque Church of Cedofeita, is a sight to behold. According to this legend, Teodomiro desperately sought a cure for his sick son, Ariamiro, and in his despair, he turned to Saint Martin of Tours for help. He promised that if his son were healed, he would build a church in the saint’s honor. It’s not just a story, though. The church is said to have gotten its name, Cedofeita, meaning “Made Early,” because of how quickly it was built after Teodomiro’s son was healed. The original church was a wooden structure, but over time, it was replaced with a stone building. During its lifetime, the church has undergone many transformations. Even today, it retains some of its early architectural styles, giving the church a unique charm. These styles, mainly Romanesque, can be seen in the façade, the windows, and the bell tower.
