This time, the Igreja da Misericórdia embraced the exuberance of the Baroque style. Look closely at the facade, its intricate details bursting forth like a hymn of praise. Inside awaits a treasure – the Misericórdia Museum. There, among religious art and artifacts, you’ll find “Fons Vitae,” a captivating painting. This Flemish masterpiece depicts King Manuel I and Queen Leonor kneeling before a fountain of blood gushing from the crucified Christ, a stark reminder of the period’s religious fervor.
