Ibiza Airport grew quickly. Upgrades to the runway taxiway apron and terminal occurred. By the late 1990s it served over 3.6 million passengers yearly.
In 2011 over 5.6 million passengers passed through. There were around 61000 aircraft movements. This was an increase of 11.9% and 8.4% respectively. These numbers are compared with 2010.
The airport boasts a single well-equipped terminal. It manages both international and domestic flights. This terminal has undergone several upgrades since its 1949 opening. The terminal is spread over two levels. Arrivals are handled on one level. Departures are on the other. Check-in counters and self-service machines are plentiful. The security check leads to gates for Schengen and non-Schengen flights.
