Picture this. You stand before Hyllie Park Kyrkan a modern church in the heart of Malmu00f6. Its history however stretches far beyond its present form. This unassuming building is the culmination of a journey spanning over a century.

Hyllie Park Kyrkan is more than just a place of worship. It’s a testament to the enduring spirit of faith. It’s a story of mergers transformations and a steadfast commitment to community. Originally founded in 1870 as Malmu00f6 Baptistfu00f6rsamling it was initially part of the Swedish Baptist Union. For decades it resided in Ebenezerkyrkan on Jerusalemsgatan a far cry from its current location.

The church moved several times. For some years it occupied temporary spaces in Ru00f6nneholmsparken before finding a temporary home in Vu00e4stervu00e5ngkyrkan. But even that wasn’t to be its final resting place. In 1989 a significant event reshaped the church’s identity. Malmu00f6 Baptistfu00f6rsamling merged with Sikemfu00f6rsamlingen. This merger resulted in the name Baptistfu00f6rsamlingen i Malmu00f6. The church affiliated with both the Swedish Baptist Union and u00d6rebromissionen. u00d6rebromissionen later became the Evangelical Free Church of Sweden (EFK).

The congregation continued to grow. Vu00e4stervu00e5ngkyrkan became too small. The decision was made to move again. This time to Hyllie Park a burgeoning area in southern Malmu00f6. Construction of the new church complex began. The elderly care facility was finished first in 1993. The congregation finally moved into their provisional church building in 1996. A significant detail many overlook is the church’s name change in 2006 to Hyllie Park Kyrkan solidifying its connection to its current home.

Today Hyllie Park Kyrkan stands as a vibrant hub. It not only serves as a place of worship but also houses an elderly care facility a preschool a school and even Hyllie Park folk high school. Its history is a testament to adaptation and growth a story woven into the very fabric of this modern church. Hyllie Park Kyrkan isn’t just a building. It’s a living community reflecting a rich and evolving history.
