Peter Behrmann, Cecil’s son, later managed Hyde Park Corner. He continued his father’s vision. The strategy was to be smaller but more upmarket than other malls. Some tenants have been here since the beginning. Carlton Hair is one such business. David Gilson, the owner, finds inspiration here. Chris for Men is another original tenant. Jean Kogel’s father opened it in 1969. Galleon Pharmacy has served loyal families for decades. They offer a personal touch from the past. McCullagh & Bothwell has dressed generations of schoolchildren. They have been at Hyde Park Corner for 50 years. Nu Metro has provided movie excitement for 37 years.
Hyde Park Corner has evolved over the years. It stays fresh and relevant to modern shoppers. The Cortina Fashion Court showcases exclusive international fashion. Hyde Park Corner houses more luxury brands than anywhere else in Africa. It is Johannesburg’s foremost international brand destination.
