That’s like having 2,000 backyard swimming pools all in one place! Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Splashtown has been thrilling Texans and visitors for decades. This place has undergone some serious transformations over the years, from humble beginnings to becoming a Six Flags water park. Back in the 1980s, this wasn’t a water park at all. Can you imagine? This area was home to a wacky theme park called Hanna-Barbera Land. Sadly, it only lasted a couple of seasons before closing down. But like a phoenix from the ashes, Splashtown USA was born! They kept some of the charming Victorian architecture, but instead of roller coasters, you got waterslides! It changed hands a couple of times in the 90s, eventually being scooped up by Six Flags in 1999. The goal? To dominate the Houston water park scene, of course! And boy, did they succeed! They even moved some of the best attractions from their other Houston waterpark, WaterWorld, over here after it closed. Today, Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Splashtown is a sprawling 48-acre playground of aquatic adventures. It’s got everything from heart-stopping speed slides to a relaxing lazy river, making it a perfect place for families and thrill-seekers alike.
