Humble Tabernacle of Love

Stepping inside the Humble Tabernacle of Love Baptist Church, imagine the energy of those early meetings in the 1990s. The Humble Tabernacle of Love, located at 2935 Floral Street, played a pivotal role in the formation of the Genesis Ministers Conference. Reverends Prior and Ramsey, members of the Clinic of the East Ministers Conference, held monthly meetings at the Humble Tabernacle of Love. These meetings sparked a vision for a new chapter, one focused on developing the skills of ministers gifted with the five-fold ministries. They shared this vision with Reverend Nesmith, who joined their efforts. With the approval of Rev. Dr. Daisy Braxton, president of the Eastern Region of the Pennsylvania Baptist Clergywomen, the Genesis Ministers Conference became a reality. The Humble Tabernacle of Love witnessed the birth of this new chapter. The first official meeting took place in February 1993. The conference’s name, “Genesis,” came from Reverend Ramsey, who was elected President. The Humble Tabernacle of Love, though serving as the initial meeting place, doesn’t feature in later activities of the Genesis Ministers Conference. Their first public workshop on stress management was held at Desert Stream Baptist Church. The Genesis Ministers Conference quickly gained recognition, joining the Eastern Region of the Pennsylvania Baptist Clergywomen and the State Association. They adopted a constitution, established a four-year term of office, and focused on preaching, teaching Sunday school, and exploring subjects to enhance ministerial performance. The Humble Tabernacle of Love thus holds a significant place in the history of the Genesis Ministers Conference, providing the space where the seeds of this vital organization were sown.
