“Did they really attack fellow students here?” On May 19, 2016, the seemingly ordinary Hukuk Kantini became a scene of chaos and violence. This canteen, normally bustling with students grabbing a quick bite or catching up with friends, was shaken by a brutal attack. A group armed with knives and even a gun stormed into the Hukuk Kantini within the Ankara University Law School. They targeted two students, Hakan Cin and Ali Can Süt, leaving them with serious injuries. The horrific event left a dark stain on the history of Hukuk Kantini. It became a stark reminder of the political tensions that sometimes spilled over into university campuses. The attackers were later apprehended, but the incident continued to fuel debates about campus security and political extremism. The Hukuk Kantini, a place meant for lively discussions and shared meals, sadly bore witness to a darker side of student life.
