Once spanning 65k㎡ in the Song Dynasty, the wetland shrunk to 25k㎡ in the 1950s, and then drastically to 6.7k㎡. Thankfully, recent government efforts focus on preserving and developing this natural treasure. Within Huixian Wetland, several landmarks beckon. JiuToushan Mountain immerses you in nature’s embrace, with green slopes and birds soaring above. Observe the lively fish and duck fields. Longshan Mountain offers panoramic views of the lakes and hills. For a truly unforgettable experience, camp at its foot and witness the sunrise. FengHuangshan Mountain, once dotted with temples, holds echoes of ancient worship. Mudong Lake, also known as Xiangsi Lake, lies at the heart of the GuGuiliu Channel. It’s a tranquil expanse connected to numerous ponds, dotted with islands, and adorned with lotus blossoms in full bloom. Take a boat cruise amidst the flowers or enjoy the sight of migratory birds. Anglers can cast their lines and try their luck. Miles of plank roads offer an alternative to boat cruises. Stroll along these paths and soak in the wetland’s beauty. Remember to bring your own supplies. The area’s infrastructure is still developing, making it difficult to find shops. Choose the Maojia wharf for easy access to Longshan Mountain.
