The Bible Way Church believes in the Bible as God’s word. They believe salvation comes through Jesus Christ. They practice water baptism in Jesus’ name. They await Jesus’ second coming. They anticipate the final judgment and a new earth. They believe in one person in God. This is Jesus Christ. They do not believe in the Trinity.

Smallwood Edmond Williams organized the Bible Way Church in 1927. He led about 70 churches away from the Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith. They cited the autocratic leadership of Bishop Robert C. Lawson. Williams and others were ordained as bishops.

After Williams died in 1991, a division emerged. It concerned church governance. Lawrence Campbell and Huie L. Rogers were considered as potential leaders. The church voted to retain Rogers in 1997. This led to a schism.

Today, the International Bible Way Church Of Jesus Christ has many churches worldwide. Bishop Cornelius Showell was appointed Presiding Bishop in 2006. Apostle Floyd E. Nelson Sr. succeeded Showell in 2014. Apostle Willie Rookard assumed the role after Nelson’s passing in 2019.
