“A new church in the neighborhood?” a woman whispered, clutching her husband’s arm as they approached the Horacio Zeballos Gamez. The gleaming white walls of Cristo Resucitado seemed to rise from the dust of Socabaya, a beacon of faith in the Asociación Horacio Zeballos Gámez. The Horacio Zeballos Gamez isn’t just a place. It’s a story etched in stone and spirit. The Archbishop of Arequipa himself, Monsignor Javier Del Río Alba, inaugurated this very church, Cristo Resucitado, on the first Sunday of Advent in 2022. Imagine, a brand new year, a brand new church, a brand new beginning for this community within the Horacio Zeballos Gamez. The church was built in response to the rapidly growing population in this area of Arequipa. It can hold over 450 people, a testament to the burgeoning faith within the Horacio Zeballos Gamez. Father Álvaro Martín Enrione leads the flock here. He took on the responsibility of this nascent parish, a task not to be taken lightly. The construction of Cristo Resucitado within the Horacio Zeballos Gamez was a community effort, fueled by donations and hard work.
