You see it, right there, on its grounds, a church. It doesn’t look like much, but it has a rich history that goes back a long time. This is Hopewell Baptist Church. It’s been here since 1972, starting in a living room, one of the oldest in Southeast Houston. In fact, it began as an Independent Baptist Church and remained so until 1978. The story starts in a simple living room. Then, it moved to an old Methodist Church building on Linda Vista. It grew, changed pastors, and found its home. It even has a website showcasing its growth. Hopewell Baptist Church has been a pillar of faith and community for decades, fostering connections between generations. They’ve managed to remain relevant in a fast-changing city. Its pastor is Asa W. Sampson Jr.
