Could a village inspire a hydroelectric marvel? Here in Sichuan, China, nestled by the Jialing River, lies Hongyanzi, a testament to such inspiration. Originally known as Hongyan Town, Hongyanzi transitioned from town to village under the jurisdiction of Aoping Town in December 2019. While Hongyanzi itself isn’t the power plant, its proximity to the Jialing River played a key role in the location of the Hongyanzi Hydro Power Project. This 90MW hydroelectric marvel harnesses the river’s power, a force that has shaped the lives of those in Hongyanzi for generations. The project, completed in 2001, stands as a symbol of progress and ingenuity. It generates a substantial 440 GWh of electricity. This power, generated by three 30MW bulb turbines supplied by DEC Dongfang Electric Machinery, illuminates countless homes and businesses. The turbines, a marvel of engineering, hum with the power of the Jialing River, a constant reminder of Hongyanzi’s contribution to China’s energy landscape. So, as you stand here, overlooking the region, imagine the flow of energy, originating from the river that winds through the heart of Hongyanzi. It’s a testament to the power of nature and human innovation, forever intertwined in this tranquil corner of Sichuan.
