“Hongshengsha, a name whispered on the Guangzhou breeze,” I begin. It evokes images of an island waiting for its moment. Hongshengsha is more than just a place. It is a promise of future growth.

Today, we stand on the edge of possibility near Hongshengsha. A place where the past informs the future. This island in Guangzhou’s Huangpu District holds a secret. It cradles a metro station waiting to awaken.

Hongshengsha Station is a key part of Guangzhou Metro Line 7. It lies underground on the island’s west side. Imagine the hustle when this station finally opens. It will connect this area to the heart of Guangzhou.

The station’s story began in 2016. Planners added a station to Line 7’s route through Hongshengsha Island. Guangzhou Port Co. Ltd. then gave the land to Huangpu District Land Development Center. This act was crucial for the station’s creation.

Construction began in April 2019. By April 2020, the main structure was complete. May 2021 saw the station “topped out”. It was the first station on Line 7’s second phase to achieve this. On October 31, 2023, a “three powers” transfer was completed.

But Hongshengsha Station remains unopened. The island around it needs development. The area lacks municipal facilities. For now, trains pass through without stopping. They are like silent ghosts in the tunnel.

The station’s design is unique. Both ends connect to the Pearl River. The station goes three floors deep to allow the rail line to cross the river. The plans include four exits to welcome passengers.

Think of the layout. Street level exits A through D will greet you. One level down is the concourse. Here are ticket machines, shops and customer service. You will also find the police station and safety facilities. A mezzanine leads to the buffer level. The buffer level has station equipment. Finally, you reach the platforms on level three.

Platform 2 awaits trains toward Meidi Dadao. Platform 1 serves those heading to Yanshan. For now, the doors remain closed here.

Guangzhou itself is a city of firsts. It was the first Chinese city to open to foreign trade. The city has been known by many names. Westerners once called it Canton. Locals know it as Panyu. The city is also known as the City of Flowers. The annual Canton Fair attracts global traders. Guangzhou is a major economic center with a rich history.

Hongshengsha Station represents Guangzhou’s future. The station is complete but awaiting the island’s development. It is a symbol of potential. It is a testament to Guangzhou’s ambition. Soon, this station will be a vital part of the city’s growing metro system. It will connect Hongshengsha Island to the world. This island is a place where progress never stops.
