Isn’t it remarkable how a building can embody the spirit of a community? Holy Nativity Episcopal Church stands as a testament to this very idea. Established during World War II, Holy Nativity Church offered a place for the rapidly growing Westchester neighborhood to gather. It was a place for families to worship together.

Over 75 years later, the neighborhood is again experiencing rapid growth and change. Holy Nativity Church continues to evolve with it. Holy Nativity is truly a neighborhood church. It serves as a hub for all sorts of community happenings. You can find everything here from a community garden to a lively pocket park. Holy Nativity also hosts a yoga studio. There is even a jazz meetup group. Monthly cooking classes are a regular event. Adam and Eve, the church’s bunnies, are popular with visitors to the community garden.

Holy Nativity Church is more than just a building. It is a community treasure. It is a resource center for the spiritual needs and daily lives of its neighbors. The church is diverse, outward-looking, and socially engaged. Holy Nativity is a warm and caring community. People come together not only to worship. They also celebrate and share their traditional, progressive, and unique spiritual paths.

The church is located at 6700 West 83rd Street. It sits at Dunbarton between Sepulveda and Lincoln boulevards. The location offers easy access from the 405 Freeway.

The Rector, Rev. Michael Foley, arrived in November 2020. He connected with the pandemic-fragmented community with his upbeat and friendly nature.

The church is also home to breathtaking artwork by Steve O’Loughlin.

Holy Nativity offers two services each Sunday. At 8:00 am, there is a Spoken Eucharist. At 10:30 am, there is a Sung Eucharist. Services are traditional yet relaxed.

Holy Nativity stresses environmental sustainability. It supports Food Pantry LAX and Safe Place for Youth. In collaboration with St. Bede’s Episcopal Church, Holy Nativity supports Grassroots Neighbors. This organization provides hot meals to the housing insecure on the streets.

With its roots in the past, service in the present, and eye to the future, Holy Nativity is truly a church for the 21st century. Consider working in the garden. Maybe take a yoga class. You could hear a concert or play in the pocket park. All are welcome to join in worship on Sunday mornings. Holy Nativity Church waits with open arms and eager hearts. It is a special community to experience firsthand.
