February 16th brought one of the most devastating events. A fire struck the 100-year-old church during the big freeze. Houston firefighters faced decreased water pressure and ruptured pipes. The church was spared major damage. The parish rectory, garage, and priest’s living quarters suffered total losses. The community rallied. A fundraising goal of $200,000 was set to rebuild Holy Name Catholic Church.
