From humble beginnings in a horse stable, Holy Family Church has risen to become a beloved landmark in Andheri East. Have you ever heard of a church that started in a stable, just like the birth of Jesus? Well, Holy Family Church shares that unique origin story! In 1943, the villages of Gundowli and Chakala needed a spiritual home. Thus, Holy Family Parish was born. The first mass was celebrated in a humble stable rented from a kind Hindu widow. Can you picture the scene? The scent of hay, the gentle nickering of horses, and the faithful gathering in prayer. It wasn’t until 1962 that the unique fan-shaped structure we see today was completed. This architectural marvel, designed by Fr. Carsi S.J., stands as a testament to the dedication of the parishioners and the vision of its founders. Holy Family Church isn’t just a place of worship. It’s a symbol of community, resilience, and faith that echoes through generations. Their mission statement, “Together towards Fullness of Life in Openness and involvement,” reflects their commitment to serving the community. Now, as you stand before its impressive facade, remember its humble beginnings and celebrate the enduring spirit of faith.
