It wasn’t always independent though. Initially served by the Jesuits at Sacred Heart College now Regis University Holy Family became its own Archdiocesan parish in 1918. Father Cornelius O’Farrell became the first resident pastor.

The church’s story is interwoven with education. From the early 1920s to 1999 the Sisters of Loretto ran a grade school and high school on the church grounds. The high school’s first graduating class in 1926 consisted of just ten students. Its legacy of Catholic education continues. Holy Family maintains a close relationship with its neighbor Arrupe Jesuit High School. The original Holy Family High School moved to Broomfield in 1999 expanding its reach to suburban families.
